Today, January 4, is World Braille Day

The Braille alphabet is a special alphabet based on raised dots, which was created by French pedagogue Louis Braille in 1824 for the development of literacy for blind people.

The resolution of the UN General Assembly adopted on December 2006, 13 stated that Braille is the primary means of written communication for the blind and visually impaired.

This international day is celebrated in order to recognize at the international level the importance of the Braille alphabet in the development of literacy, education, educational literacy among the blind and visually impaired, and to support the publication of educational, scientific, political and fiction literature in this script.
