Can women with allergies have children?

Of course you can! But this is clearly not an enviable situation. But don't be discouraged! Scientists have found that during pregnancy, a woman's body produces large amounts of the hormone cortisol. This hormone is considered a necessary tool to combat allergies. Therefore, allergies may not bother a woman during pregnancy or may be mild. In most cases, even bronchial asthma is observed to withdraw. After childbirth, the hormone cortisol returns to normal and allergies can recur. If the allergy was not bothersome in the first pregnancy, it is more likely to recur in subsequent pregnancies.

Would the allergy escalate?

There are three types of allergies during pregnancy:

  • has no effect;
  • allergic disease improves;
  • allergies are more severe.

According to statistics, allergic rhinitis (runny nose due to allergies) affects every second pregnant woman from the age of 12 weeks. Bronchial asthma occurs in 2% of pregnant women. If asthma was not observed before pregnancy, it will not occur again. If asthma is present, there is a risk of discomfort from 24 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. Of course, it is gratifying that asthma does not bother a woman at all during the 4 weeks before delivery. In the past, bronchial asthma was considered a barrier to pregnancy, but now this view is fragmented. It is important to see a doctor regularly.

Can I take anti-allergy medicine during pregnancy?

An allergist and gynecologist should be consulted before taking any anti-allergy medication. It should be borne in mind that the benefits of the drug outweigh the harm to the fetus. This is because any antihistamine can affect the fetus.

Doesn’t allergy breed?

If the expectant mother is prone to allergies, it is possible that her child will be born with allergies. However, it is important to remember that children with allergies are born from healthy mothers. The baby's immune system begins to develop in the mother's womb, so a woman should pay attention to what she eats during pregnancy. For example, if a woman who is in charge of citrus fruits does not follow the norm, her child will be born with diathesis.

Precautions

A healthy woman is also doubly responsible for her own health during pregnancy. Women with chronic illnesses such as allergies are no exception. Always try to stay away from allergens. If you have a food allergy and are addicted to it, know the rules of consumption. Better yet, try not to eat them at all. First of all, think about the health of yourself and your child!
