The presence of blood in the feces of children
1) It is a serious sign.
2) is a clinical sign of more than 100 diseases.
3) Mothers should see a pediatrician or pediatric surgeon as soon as they see this sign!
There are two types of blood in feces:
1) From the upper parts of the digestive tract (stomach and small intestine)
2) From the lower parts of the digestive tract (small intestine, rectum and anus)
When bleeding from the upper parts of the digestive tract, the feces (melena) appears in the form of black cardboard.
Dark red blood is mixed with feces or on its surface.
When bleeding from the lower parts of the digestive tract occurs, pure red blood in the stool appears mixed.
The presence of fecal clean blood on toilet paper or pampers indicates the presence of cracks in the perianal area.
Many products and medications can cause the stool color to turn brown or black:
-antibiotics (levofloxacin, metronidazole)
-iron preparations
-activated carbon
-enterosorbents (enterofiltrum, lactofiltrum, filtrum)
-red dye preservatives
